The sea, the sea

I like the sea. I like the way the crests of the waves sparkle and shine in the sunlight, like diamond glints on snow. I like listening to the sounds of the sea- the gentle breaking of waves against the beach and the big splashes of big waves against bobbing docked boats.
I like how the sea is so full of life. If you watch the patches of debris drifting about the sea very closely, you will notice baby swordfish masquerading as small brown twigs, and fat silver fish swimming and darting about the foamy crests of waves. For every dozen or so big leaves you flip, you would be rewarded with the sight of a plain grey crab scuttling shyly to the other unexposed side of the leaf.
I like how I can lie on my back on the pontoon, and see nothing but clouds and sky.As the pontoon bobs up and down to the rhythm of the sea, I move along with it, as if I were just another part of that wide expanse of water.

I like how I can't get my arms around it. I like how it can't be conquered. I like how even long after I've walked off the pontoon and have both feet planted on solid ground, my lips would still be warm from the fierce hot kiss of the sun.

--The Latest--

For the past week, our only source of natural light in our toilet-our solitary lone window- has been crudely covered up with a big, blue, bath-towel. Eventually, suspecting that it had something to do with my eldest sister, I asked her (rather curiously) why on earth was there a towel hanging on our window.

She replied nonchalantly, "It's very bright in the morning when I bathe."
(the sunlight that comes through the window contains UV-rays that cause aging you see)

I was stunned silent. This was without a doubt the epitome of all her anti-aging endeavors.

Perhaps one day, when Jie Grace becomes famous for her ridiculously ridiculous (and possibly effective) anti-aging methods, a blue towel will hang at each and every toilet window of her faithful followers, silently protesting their (futile) fight against old age and eventually, death.

P.S I spent the longest time ever trying to make my last paragraph sound cool. what'dya think??!?!

Pancake picnic

Invited my lovely cousins over for a pancake picnic in our garden. We whipped up french toast, pancakes and a jug 'o ribena and had our small picnic under a white frangipani tree.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

THIS IS MY FIRST TIME POSTING IN THE WEE HOURS OF THE MORNING WHEE!!! :D
(I had the longest sleep in the afternoon)

Anyway.

At 12 as I lay in bed in the dark listening to someone bathing in the bathroom, Jie France who I haven't seen for FOUR DAYS (She's been working) peered into our bedroom. I sat up in bed and did a jig for her and we both burst out laughing.

Back to the quote of the week business

Jie France bumped into our ex-neighbour Wei Wen in the bus on the way back home, and they started to talk about my family

...
...
...
Wei Wen: Oh you have an older sister? [referring to Jie Grace]
Jie France: Yah yah! (We yah a lot, it's an awful habit. We're trying to 'yes' more often)
Wei Wen: Oh but I've never seen her before!
Jie France: Oh yah yah yah, she doesn't like the sun.

*grin*
*giggle*
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

Jie Grace was at the peak of her anti-sun campaign during our Fulton Road days. She would come out of the house with her umbrella, walking backwards with her back to the sun.

On another note, today was letter opening day (where my dad would sit down with a pile of letters and sort them out). When papa opened his 6 demerit speeding ticket, I OPENED MY LETTER CUM PRIZE FROM CUPCAKETREE DESIGNS!!!

I participated in a lucky draw contest on Olga's site and won a small cupcake stamp :)

:):):)
happy saturday (:

Lemonade stand

A lemonade stand fits right into my dream world of county fairs, barns, creeks, alpacas and knitting circles
Apparently this lovely lemonade sign was painted by that little girl down below. Isn't it lovely!!! I wish I could draw like her. Her little people radiate goodness and kindness and everything nice. I can imagine the blue-eyed blondie offering me a cup of ice-cold lemonade

On Pottery, rubber seeds, and frosties

I visited my dear pottery class last night. Nothing had changed with the exception of a few new faces.
The studio was a mite cloudy as always (does the dust ever settle?), my pottery aunts were still making weird sculptures (they have been working the wheel for so long that they have become a bit too creative I think), and the pieces I fired from ages ago were still lying on the shelves
Half the fun in producing a piece lies in the unpredictable-ness of how the glazes turn out. I like how mine turned out ;)
Don't you love rubber seeds? A month ago I was walking along that stretch of road near Upper pierce reservoir and they were just lying there, waiting for me to pick them up. I held up the base of my shirt and tucked as many as I could into my make-do basket.
on another note, LOOK AT THIS GINORMOUS FROSTIE!!!!! It's the biggest one that I've ever seen in my long history of frostie-binging. I'm proud to say that I ate up all 2 and 1/4 inches of it.

What do you think? Isn't this whopper the biggest frostie you've ever seen????!?!?!

rah-rah-rambutan

It's rambutan season again. One year has flown by so quick! I still remember posting about The Man-Uncle Deni- climbing up the rambutan tree last year.
Ninn has discovered to her delight that she can balance our 4 metre long improvised rambutan harvesting tool on her bum for 30 seconds straight.
Hey you gotta admit- the girl's got talent!!!

Of mothers and harleys

After dinner Uncle Javier offered to give us (che France and me) a ride around the estate on his Harley. Neither of us had been on a motorbike before, so we snapped up the offer. To cut the long story short, it was super exciting. Mother watched us sternly from the side of the road. She's not big on motorbikes.

Me [to Jie France and Mummy as we walked back home]: If I were a nice old bachelor I'd like to ride a bike
Jie France: Me too
Mummy: I would puncture your tyres every night
Jie France: We won't visit you
Me: Mummy will be languishing in some old condo somewhere....
Me [pretending to be much older]: Guess what che, mummy punctured both my tyres today
Jie France: She punctured mine last week!!!

[back home]

Rocky: Whoa! So gangsta!

"Veggie with an afro"

I've been doing a bit of night-carving lately, with my new neon-orange PZ-cut.
I carved a big broc and a small broc. OMG you wouldn't believe what I found in Daiso the other day-- WOODEN BLOCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for mounting my stamps!! and a good size too!!!!!!!! I call them my happy squares.Kioko had a bit of fun stampingaww hi baby broc. ilu babyRocky calls them "veggies with an afro". I'm thinking that they'd be perfect for stamping recipe cards. Y'know, like when people ask "My goodness Anne! How DID you make that fantastic macaroni and cheese" whatever. You whip out some cardstock, stamp a broccoli on it, scribble down the recipe and deliver it. voila!
