If I were a bus driver...

One of the things I enjoy most about taking the bus is watching people run for the bus, while I'm on the bus. I always wonder about what I would do if I were the bus driver, watching this desperate kid running to the bus stop to try to catch the bus before it pulls out.

Scenario 1:
Like an angel sent from the heavens I go, "awwwwwwww, look at that poor kid. He's gonna be late for school" and wait for him, OR,

Scenario 2:
I stop the bus and wait for the kid (at this point the kid has realised that I am going to wait for him and he starts to walk unhurriedly instead of sprint), AND THEN when the kid is a metre away from the door, I step on the accelerator hard with a fanatical gleam in my eye, and speed off, leaving him behind in a cloud of dust

I still can't decide

Stamping Saturday

I thought about keeping it a secret. But I've been dying and BURSTING to tell you what I've been up to for the past three days. I've been making.......... RUBBER STAMPS!!!! For the past week or so I've been obsessing obsessively about rubber stamps. I mean obsessively. I even made a list of all my favourite designs and their respective websites, all ready for my computer illiterate mum to buy them for my birthday. Three days ago something genius clicked in my brain, and I decided to make some myself. Since Singapore is not very crafty, rubber carving material and rubber carving tools are not available anywhere, so I made do with erasers and a pen-knife
the weirdo looking things are potato chips:

In absolute dumb-ness, I forgot that the printed image is always inverted, so when I made my 'I love ewe' stamp... well you know how it turned out
btw my mum is not spared. I'm going to get her to buy me carving tools and material.

Happy Saturday!!!

More pets on my desk

Introducing....

My newest little stuffed creations KNOLL, ELSIE AND POOP!

I've always wanted a cactus pet but I never got round to heading down to Far East Flora. So I decided to make myself one instead. I drew up some cactus' that were potentials and then got a little carried away and drew in tons of other random things too, in pots. After I named them all ____ cactus, I realised that some of them were totally un-cactus like, so I renamed them my POT SERIES.

This is Knoll (holding a watering can). He was my first cactus pet
Elsie (eating an ice-cream) came along a day later
and poop (or P for short) was born in the night

aren't they darlings?

Pauliana

Out of the goodness of my heart I cleared the dead parrot that had been lying on our roof for the past 3 whole months. My family is extraordinary. How they could put up with a dead parrot (we named it Pauliana after its first month's death anniversary) on our roof (and even be vaguely proud and amused that there was a dead parrot on our roof) amazes me. I squash cockroaches, clear dead birds off the roof and work the electrical switchboard when our house has a blackout.

I am totally THE man of the house

STAWBERRY (absolutely could not resist leaving our the 'r' in typical singapore fashion)

I was digging through the fridge in search of some grub when i saw THIS!
A STRAWBERRY WITH A STEM!!!!!!!
HOW COOL IS THIS!!!!!!!!
I bet NOBODY in Singapore has seen a strawberry with a stem.
this is a phenomenon.
I AM THE LUCKIEST FRIDGE DIGGER IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD!!!

Wear your heart on your sleeve/Happy Valentine's Day!

I made some little felt hearts for my friends for Valentine's Day
and revived my long-ago rubber stamp craze!Did you know that the phrase, "Wear your heart on your sleeve" was first coined by Shakespeare in "Othello"?

Iago:
It is sure as you are Roderigo,
Were I the Moor, I would not be Iago:
In following him, I follow but myself;
Heaven is my judge, not I for love and duty,
But seeming so, for my peculiar end:
For when my outward action doth demonstrate
The native act and figure of my heart
In compliment extern, 'tis not long after
But I will wear my heart upon my sleeve
For daws to peck at: I am not what I am.

Have a lovely Valentine's Day! =)

shrooms

When it comes to crafty things, I like things that look special. They have to look handmade, and if it's handmade but looks machine made...not cool. love these happy, humble little shrooms from littlebirds! . I would have replaced the buttons on the red shrooms with tiny white pom-poms, but they are awesome all the same!

Mouse in the House

Mother was having breakfast when she saw a MOUSE (or so she said) run under my PIANO. As like all other occasions when our family encounters any creature of any kind, everyone was all-a-flutter. Jie France insisted that she wanted it as a pet. Jie Grace was disgusted. Tim was mildly interested and Mikey lay down on his tummy at once to peep under the piano.

the mouse vanished after a while...

We decided that it might be inside my piano...so I banged on the piano a bit to see if it would run out...

Mother said it was probably dancing about on my keys, handling out cocktails to other partying mice...

looks like Jie France has got her wish, because we officially have a resident mouse living in our house.
