Mose's sock

My latest craze in knitting is socks (my hedgehog phase is so over). I started off my first sock with a pair of Mary Jane's. STRIPED!!!!

It was my undoing really, I had so many ends to darn in AND I was working three balls of yarn at once! Which meant that all the yarns were getting tangled every half second, and that my patience was at bottom zero level. It took three episodes of mad men and one of heroes to soothe my ruffled nerves.

and when the sock was finished... it was too big, so I popped Mose in, and he fit just right

While I was browsing through some books in the library, "HOW TO IRON YOUR OWN DAMN SHIRT- The Perfect Husband Handbook" popped up for some obscure reason in the needlecraft section. I chucked one of my numerous knitting books and borrowed it instead.

Yes! You poor confused child, it's a men's book, but the topics were so ridiculous I absolutely had to have it.

Like most other Chinese families, my family celebrates the eve of Chinese New Year by having a big reunion steamboat dinner, at my grandma's.

Rockband 2 is our new fav game.

Just before the clock struck twelve, Jie Mar recalled that as young twerps, on CNY, we would light up all red and green sparklers and march around the carpark (hell-ish expressions were encouraged), waving smoke in each others faces and chanting "hell.....hell.....hell.....".
All in the spirit of creating an atmosphere of hell you see.-very cool
so we relived our glorious childhood memories.

My sewing machine died halfway while I was sewing myself a new wallet.
It started to grunt and groan,
and whistle and whine.
Wasn't very pleasant no sireeeeeeeee.
So I trudged downstairs (very sad) resigned to my sewing machine's fate,
and lay on Mikey's bed and thought about what I would like to get if I were getting married
(In black times like these you have to think happy thoughts)

One) A new sewing machine, preferably Singer
Two) A yellow kitchenette mixer
Three) A beautiful vintage bike with a pretty basket in front

that's all for now,
I'm gonna trudge back upstairs and see whether my old thing has got its act back together

Typewriter

While I was digging around our storeroom, I came across this SUPER COOL typerwriter. I know, you are totally jealous.

My dad did some stuff with it, and the top part came off, and it looked ten times cooler- like a flying threstral

man it is so old school. love it.
the only bad thing about it is that it doesn't work anymore (sigh)

Meet Moses

This is mosie my hedegehog. Isn't he such a sweetie?I made him in stages: Body, head, bottom. The french knots part for his eyes and his nose were the hardest. I ended up doing some nonsense knot instead. It's pretty cute isn't it?

I'll go find some felt and make some feet now...
